Why not today?

Haven’t we all been victims of it, and sometimes more often than other times. Well, you probably guessed it – Procrastination.

The dictionary definition is; ‘putting off or delaying or deferring an action to a later time or slowness as a consequence of not getting around to it’.

Well, my definition is; ‘Chilling out too much until you get tired enough, to the point of wanting to do nothing else, but sleep’

It might seem ok to us, but once your ‘to do’ list has reached the bottom of the page, then it’s now time to start mumbling – “Procrastination”

So how do we carefully nip it before it overpowers us?
Here’s a few helpful hints:

1. Set reasonable goals

Don’t try to do too much in your 24 hours. Set achievable goals according to the time you know will be comfortable for you. Making a long ‘to do’ list seems the clever thing to do, but remember, what we do must be done well. No use doing half completed tasks or not getting the full benefit from it. Focus on the most important tasks first.

2. Don’t resort to complaining

Talking, nagging or complaining about what you have to do is time-wasting in itself. If you calculate the amount of time spent on discussing why you should do it, or why you shouldn’t, is actually chipping away at productive time. Make your list and get straight into it.

3. Think positive

An important part of achieving your goals and to fight procrastination is to convince yourself that this needs to be done today , no matter what happens. Setting the right state and attitude makes a busy day exciting and energising, rather than tiring or disappointing..

So, never leave today’s work for tomorrow! Every single day is a gift and is precious!
