Bury the belly…

An integral part of your personal development is diet and eating habits.

We may not fully realise it, but what we put in and how much, does affect many, many aspects of life. Apart from self-esteem and image, wrongly filling the belly, is the root to most illnesses.

So, here’s some helpful tips to eat well, enjoy food, but not at the expense of your precious health:

Only eat when hungry

This is a difficult one, since most of us are programmed to eat 3 meals a day (breakfast – lunch – supper). But, let’s be honest, many a time we eat because of the set time. We may not even be hungry, but we still eat, perhaps fearing that we would not manage till the next meal time. This is negative programming and eating when not really hungry leads to many of the harms doctors and dieticians warn us about. Surprisingly, also, is that the smaller utensils we use the less we eat…

Plan a healthy grocery / snack list

As tempting as  supermarkets and bakeries may seem, displaying all their tasty and mouth-watering delicacies and snacks, a good idea is to ‘pull on the reigns’ and purchase healthier foods. What you take home from the store is what is available in your fridge, so buy wisely. There are tons of healthy recipes on the net. Get experimenting and see how the healthier diet works for you.

Take your time when eating

Most of us gobble our food when eating, not in a gluttonish way, but we just don’t chew food well enough. We tend to eat too fast. We need to seriously taste the food we eat. Eating in front of the TV or whilst doing other chores makes eating slowly even more difficult. Try this today, chew your food a few more times and notice the flavour of the food strength with every chew. We got to play our part, the gut goes through a lot in a single day.

So, your next meal is not far off, consider the above advice. It will probably gain you many more healthy, ‘stress free’ years..
