Ever heard the saying, “a river cuts through a rock not due to its power but due to its persistence”
We often start something and never finish. We sometimes have great ideas and energy when initiating something, but we find that it often fizzles out, pretty fast.
So how can we do things without backing out halfway? Here’s a few helpful tips;
Visualise the end result
This means that you should spend some solo time, literally creating images in your mind of how you would see a successful end to what ever you initiated. It’s one of the strategies used in NLP (Neuro-Linguistic Programming) to attain success. Think of and visualise the emotions, sounds and delights that would accompany the completed task.
Set reasonable time limits
We often assume in our ‘global rat-race‘ that things have to be done ‘now and now‘. And so we plunge ourselves into a state of tiredness, loss of enthusiasm and lethargy. It’s no fault but ours, for, we push ourselves too far with unrealistic time limits…get out of that trap. Start things, but set goals that will allow you to achieve completion in a balanced and stress free way.
Not all ideas are going to be ‘Stars’
Everything we initiate or every brilliant idea that we propose does not always result in absolute success. Some of them will reach the level of success we envision and others will just fall flat for various reasons. Don’t be too hard on yourself. If certain things don’t work out, change the idea and strategy and give it your best shot next time round.
You sure to hit the ‘bulls eye’ some time soon…!
