
The car pulls up the driveway. Smiles and grins on the passengers and family faces, as they disembark, with warm hugs and greetings.
You and the husband kindly receive them and usher them into the lounge. The opportunity affords itself to quick catch up time, on all that has recently happened.
But wait a minute.. There’s a strange feeling and aura in the air…
Where’s the kids of the house?
No one in sight.. Not a sound. Where are they?
Carefully ‘hidden’, tucked away in their little ‘caves’ on their devices or ‘glued’ to the box..
Ever happened to you!
Common decency and good manners is, to at least, come to the lounge and greet.
They need not stick around, but greeting one’s guests is important.
Visitors take the time and effort to come all the way to see us. They want to see the ‘whole family’ and not just hear the sounds of the television coiling from upstairs, leaving them guessing how much their nephews or nieces have grown.
We need to teach and advise our kids/teenagers/children and sometimes adults the importance of making our presence felt when guests arrive.
It is a fading decency amongst many a home in today’s time. Let’s try together and revive this warm practice…
