You ecstatic that the long awaited visitors have finally arrived and are quite comfortable. It was really a good move on your part to have invited them. Old acquaintances are renewed and pleasant moments of friendship and joy are expressed.
The meal went well and everyone shouted out their praises at the taste and quality of the food and drinks.
Dessert time was amazing and all felt relaxed, satiated and calm…
Laughter and excitement had been at its best.
(You gaze up at the clock.. it’s 10pm. You think to yourself, they should be getting ready for their goodbyes in about 15-20 mins, I’m cool -it was a lovely evening.
You gaze up at the clock again.. 45 mins gone and still no goodbyes.. The kids are sleeping.. I have work tomorrow!…it’s now 12.45am?)
Yes : Dear Visitor, it’s decent and important to not sit too long when invited… Have a great time, enjoy your host’s company, meals, friendship and drinks, but please don’t forget the TIME.
Stretching an invite to the early hours of the morning is tiring and frustrating for any host. Imagine the clearing, washing up, etc, that still needs to be done…
Always look at the clock, dear guest. It’s the right thing to do!
